Cookie Policy
Last updated: 30 July 2026
This page explains what cookies and similar technologies are used on youraviationnews.com, what they do, and how you can control them. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers personal data more broadly.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels and tags. They let a site remember things between page views, measure how the site is used, and in some cases support advertising.
Categories we use
Strictly necessary
Required for the site to work. These handle security, load balancing, page caching and remembering your cookie choices, and they include the session cookies WordPress sets when someone signs in to publish. They cannot be switched off through the consent banner because the site cannot function without them.
Preferences
Remember choices you make so the site behaves the way you left it. On this site that includes your light or dark reading mode, which is stored in your browser rather than sent to us.
Analytics
Help us understand which articles are read, how visitors arrive and where pages perform badly, so we can improve the site. This data is used in aggregate. We use Google Analytics and Google Search Console for this, which may set cookies and process data on Google’s infrastructure.
Advertising
Where advertising is served, advertising partners may set cookies to limit how often you see the same creative, to measure whether an ad worked, and in some cases to select ads based on browsing activity across sites. Where consent is required in your region, these are only set after you agree.
Third parties
Some content and services are provided by third parties, and those parties may set their own cookies when their content loads. This can include Google services, advertising and ad-measurement providers, embedded video or social media posts, and web font hosting. We do not control third-party cookies and we recommend reviewing those providers’ own policies.
Your choices
- Consent banner — on your first visit you can accept or reject non-essential categories, and you can reopen the banner at any time to change your choice.
- Browser settings — every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, and most offer a tracking-protection setting. Blocking all cookies may stop parts of the site working.
- Advertising controls — Google’s ad settings and the industry opt-out pages operated by the Digital Advertising Alliance, the Network Advertising Initiative and the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance let you opt out of personalised advertising from participating companies.
- Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control — where your browser sends a recognised opt-out signal, we honour it for the categories it applies to.
How long cookies last
Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies stay until they expire or you delete them; the ones used on this site are typically set to expire within thirteen months, and analytics identifiers within about two years unless refreshed.
Changes
We update this page when the technologies on the site change. The date at the top shows the most recent revision.
