We want YourAviationNews to be readable by everyone, including people using screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, magnification or high-contrast settings.

What we aim for

We work towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA as our target standard. We treat that as a working commitment rather than a finished claim: parts of the site meet it comfortably, and others are still being improved.

What is in place

  • Semantic headings and landmarks so screen reader users can navigate by structure.
  • Body text at a comfortable default size with generous line spacing, and layouts that reflow without loss of content when zoomed.
  • Text and background colour combinations chosen to meet contrast requirements in both light and dark reading modes.
  • A dark mode toggle for readers who find lower brightness easier.
  • Keyboard access to navigation, search and article links, with visible focus indicators.
  • Descriptive link text rather than bare click here labels.
  • Reduced motion honoured: if your device asks for less animation, transitions and entrance effects are switched off.
  • Alternative text on images that carry meaning, and captions and credits presented as text rather than baked into pictures.

Known limitations

  • Some older articles may have incomplete or missing alternative text on images. We are working back through the archive.
  • Embedded third-party content, including video players, social media posts and advertising creatives, is outside our control and may not meet the same standard.
  • Video and audio embedded from external platforms may lack accurate captions.
  • Complex tables and charts in older articles may not be fully described in text.

Tell us where we fall short

If you hit a barrier on this site, please email editor@youraviationnews.com with the page address, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology, browser and device you were using. Reports of accessibility problems are treated as bugs, not as suggestions, and we aim to respond within five working days.

If you need an article in a different format — plain text, larger print, or a described version of a graphic — ask us and we will provide it where we can.
